Katie Drozd

First Season
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Katie Drozd’s passion for dance was sparked at a young age when she began ballet classes at a local dance studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She continued her training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for their highschool and college program, working extensively with Susan Jaffe. At UNCSA Katie performed soloist roles in Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, and Serenade by George Balanchine. She also participated in the Prix de Lausanne’s Partner School’s Choreographic Project dancing in Didy Veldman’s world premiere of Is To Be

Since joining Alabama Ballet, she performed works by Twyla Tharp, Christopher Stuart, and George Balanchine. She most notably originated a role in Alex Swader’s contemporary duet Those who Change Us, and has performed Lead Marzipan in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®

Katie is a faculty member at the Alabama Ballet School, and also teaches Classical Pilates. Her curiosity to grow both as an artist and a human propel Katie to keep learning and gaining new experiences in and out of the studio.
