MELANIE MOONEY, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Melanie Mooney grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, and moved to Birmingham while attending the University of Montevallo, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2000, Melanie began her career in the not-for-profit arena, working as a Regional Manager for the national office of the American Heart Association’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) program, the premier research and education program that develops and teaches cardiovascular care and skills to healthcare providers in cardiovascular science and around the globe. After 4 years in this role, she transitioned into a development role with the American Heart Association as Heart Walk Director for the Birmingham metropolitan area, and later served in two consecutive roles as the executive director for the March of Dimes Foundation and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Melanie is delighted to continue her position with the Alabama Ballet, where she can contribute to a local organization that brings remarkable artistic talent to its community. A resident of over 25 years, Melanie now considers Birmingham to be her home, where she lives with her husband, Greg, and their two children, Olivia & Gabriel.
