Michael Matthews

Michael started his early ballet training at BalletNJ and then later at The School of Pennsylvania Ballet before joining Pennsylvania Ballet II. Michael then spent two seasons dancing as a company artist at Charlotte Ballet before joining Alabama Ballet. Over his career, Michael has enjoyed performing works by Ohad Naharin, Christopher Wheeldon, Jiří Kylián, Dwight Rhoden, and George Balanchine. While with Alabama Ballet Michael’s favorite roles include Cavalier and Candy Cane in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, and Johnny in Blue Suede Shoes.
