Alabama Ballet Launches Matching Campaign

Birmingham, AL  – Alabama Ballet’s Board President, Eric Pruitt, Interim Executive Director, Mary Goodrich, and Artistic Director, Tracey Alvey, have announced that the organization has received a $1 million-dollar challenge grant from an anonymous donor close to the Alabama Ballet.

The grant encourages others to donate and will match new donations and gift increases. It will match dollar for dollar all donations from supporters who have not previously contributed to the Alabama Ballet and will also match each dollar given above the amount a returning donor gave the previous year. Gifts doubled by the previous year will be matched in full, doubling the impact of their contributions.

The “Pointe to the Future” challenge grant will seek to maximize the impact of the donor’s generosity through seeking new and expanded financial commitments from supporters.  “Pointe” is the ballet position in which the body is balanced on the extreme tip of the toe.  The “Pointe to the Future” challenge grant is an opportunity for new and existing supporters of the arts to become a part of the Alabama Ballet’s exciting future and growth.

The Ballet’s Board of Trustees is excited to see its success at the campaign’s culmination during the annual Pointe Ball Gala Fundraiser in 2019.

“Whether it is bringing the highest quality classical and contemporary productions to the stage, bringing the experience of live ballet to thousands of patrons, teaching hundreds of children through dance education or engaging in numerous community outreach programs,” says Mary Goodrich, Interim Executive Director, “our mission is only made possible by our loyal supporters. Their generosity and support make possible world-class ballet productions and educational programs right here in our Birmingham community and across our state. We are very grateful for our anonymous donor to invest in our company and its future and we hope that it encourages others to deepen their support as well.”

“The connection between the Alabama Ballet and the Birmingham business community is strong and this type of challenge grant allows the Alabama Ballet to continue to provide support for building a world class business environment in Birmingham that attracts professionals, artists and entrepreneurs to our city,” says Eric Pruitt, Board President.
